Village Fête and Fell Run 2006

Wincle Fête

Last year's fête and the Wincle Trout Run took place on Saturday 3rd June at Mellor Knowl Farm. The brilliant sunshine and dry weather ensured an excellent turnout for both.

New this year was the scarecrow competition, bringing visitors from all over Cheshire and Staffordshire in the week before as word got round that the village has some strange new inhabitants. Winners were the WI's group of ladies taking tea, and the charming little lady above who provided an excellent photo opportunity for passers by on Barlow Hill.

Also new to Wincle was Mart Rodger Manchester Jazz, whose Dixieland and trad jazz throughout the afternoon greatly added to the sunny atmosphere.

All proceeds go towards supporting Wincle Church and school, so a big thank you to all who took part, both helpers and visitors.

Next year's fête and fell run take place on Saturday 2nd June 2007.

Wincle Trout Run

This is a demanding 9km fell run, crossing woodlands, river (when conditions allow) and high moorland (950ft of climb) in the picturesque Dane Valley, with a 3km Junior Race.

2006 saw a record number of entries (over 300 for the senior race and over 50 for the juniors). Congratulations to all the winners. Anyone who was disappointed by not being able to enter officially this year – remember you can pre-enter in advance by downloading entry forms from this site next year.

Put the date in your diary – Saturday 2nd June 2007.
